Data Retention Policy
General retention principles for HomeofIndia account, verification, listing, communication, security and compliance records.
1. Retention principles
HomeofIndia aims to keep personal data only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, account and platform security, fraud prevention, dispute/grievance handling, service administration and applicable legal requirements. Data that is no longer required should be deleted or anonymised where appropriate.
2. Account and profile data
Account/profile information may be retained while an account remains active and for a limited period afterward where necessary to complete deletion, resolve disputes, prevent abuse or meet applicable obligations. Account deletion may result in deletion or anonymisation rather than removal of every historical operational record.
3. KYC and verification
KYC documents and identity-verification information should not be kept longer than reasonably necessary for verification, fraud/security needs, disputes and applicable requirements. Access should remain restricted during the retention period.
4. Listings and bookings
Listing and booking records may be retained while active and afterward where needed for user history, moderation, disputes, fraud prevention, enforcement or legal requirements. Public visibility may end before the underlying restricted record is deleted.
5. Messages
Messages and message metadata may have a defined operational retention period and may be deleted automatically when no longer needed. Records connected to an active report, grievance, safety issue or legal requirement may need to be preserved for longer than the ordinary messaging period.
6. Login, security and audit records
Login history, IP/device information, security events and administrative audit logs may be retained for a period appropriate to detecting abuse, investigating incidents, demonstrating administrative accountability and complying with applicable security or legal requirements. Access should be restricted to personnel who need it.
7. Property-alert records
Alert preferences may be retained while alerts are enabled. Unsubscribe/disable records and limited consent history may be retained where reasonably necessary to honour the preference and demonstrate how communication choices were managed.
8. Fraud reports, grievances and legal records
Fraud reports, safety reports, grievances, account actions and related evidence may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to investigate, resolve, defend or enforce the matter and to meet applicable legal requirements.
9. Deletion and anonymisation
When a retention purpose ends, HomeofIndia should securely delete the information or anonymise it where continued aggregate or operational use does not require identification. Backups may take additional time to cycle out under the applicable backup schedule.
10. Privacy requests
Users may submit a privacy or deletion request through HomeofIndia’s available request process. A request will be assessed against applicable verification, retention, security, dispute and legal requirements.
